Dave Chandler (Chem 1975) was named the Herschbach Medal (experiment) winner at the 2025 Conference on Dynamics of Molecular Collisions (DMC) for his pioneering work on the development of multiplex detection techniques with molecular beams and for using these techniques to investigate the dynamics of chemical reactions, collisions and electron ejection. His foundational work in ion imaging has ushered in a new era of investigating fundamental physical processes at the microscopic level. This Medal was named after Dudley Herschbach, a Chemistry Nobel Prize winner in 1986.
Dave is currently Sandia Fellow at Sandia National Laboratory at Livermore. He was also on the men’s gymnastics team while he studied chemistry at UNM. Congratulations!
