The Department of Chemistry and Chemical Biology is thrilled to announce that Professor Mark Walker has earned both tenure and promotion to Associate Professor.

Professor Mark Walker began his independent career at the University of New Mexico in 2018.Dr. Walker’s research addresses the fundamental challenge of accelerating the rate of discovery and characterization of novel natural products and natural product-like compounds. To do so, his group uses the tools of genome mining, synthetic biology, directed evolution, and next generation sequencing. His goal is to help address societal challenges such as the spread of antibiotic resistant bacteria through understanding and engineering natural product biosynthesis.

Congratulations Dr. Walker, we are so proud of you!
