Research

Chemistry is central to people’s lives – every object a person encounters in their lifetime can be better understood through chemistry, but many people find it extremely challenging to learn. Having struggled and succeeded with the material myself, I am positioned to understand and anticipate the challenges students will face. With experience teaching in both secondary and higher education, I curate a variety of instructional and pedagogical techniques that make chemistry more enjoyable and accessible to all.

  • Currently teaching introductory Chemistry, General Chemistry, and Organic Chemistry utilizing an active learning format, collaborating with and supporting colleagues in efforts to improve curriculum and student outcomes.
  • Innovated and implemented blended learning techniques to support students achieving AP Exam scores better than 50% 4's and 5's. Delivered high quality content and activities to improve students' performance in the regular Chemistry track. Emphasize teaching meticulous laboratory data collection and professional quality laboratory reports.
  • Led AA High School Science Olympiad team to NM state championship for seven out of eight years.
  • Co-developed AA's 1:1 rollout as member of technology committee, Co-developed new electronic absence form, served as de-facto tech support for colleagues and students with MS Office, and Moodle and Canvas LMS.
