Position Summary:
The Department of Chemistry and Chemical Biology at the University of New Mexico has a full-time Visiting Assistant Professor position available beginning Spring 2010. Duties include lecturing in analytical and instrumental chemistry in the Spring 2010, Fall 2010, and Spring 2011 semesters, and providing overall coordination for analytical and instrumental chemistry labs. A major responsibility of this position is teaching Analytical Chemistry and Instrumental Lab. Duties will include creating exams; coordinating grading; managing course web sites and other electronic instructional resources; and overall grading.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ph.D. in Chemistry from an Accredited Institution, by appointment start date
- 2-4 years of relevant professional experience
- Teaching experience at the undergraduate level
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Demonstrated supervisory and management ability
- Excellent communication, team-building, and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated organizational skills
- Demonstrated knowledge of computers and technological applications
- Demonstrated knowledge of and experience using modern instructional methods including clicker and web-based instruction and assessment
- Evidence of strong service orientation
- Demonstrated creativity and innovation in providing support services to students
- Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively and collegially
- Demonstrated flexibility and ability to adapt in a changing work environment
- Experience with WebCT and other web-based instructional resources such as on-line homework and demonstrations
SALARY:
Commensurate with education and experience.
